Mary Katrantzou for Topshop.

You might have seen this sneak peak of Mary's collection for Topshop SS12 on their website. I was instantly drawn to them from the obvious bold coloured prints and floral backdrop.

Mary K is an Athens born designer who graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2005 with a BA in Textile Design. She originally designed prints for interiors - her mother is in interior design and her father textile design - before transferring to textile design. She later started an MA Fashion Textiles course at Central Saint Martins in 2007. Mary K's first collection was launched for AW08, consisting of a mere 9 dresses. A few collections down the line, Mary can boast 60 stockists and being featured in dozens of publications including Vogue, Grazia and Dazed&Confused.

I find it refreshing to come across a high street (who am I kidding, I'll never be able to afford Mary K?!) collection with such a range of contemporary bold patterns, opposing the repetitive leopard print and endless beige shades. Mary Katrantzou's SS12 will be available from February 17th "as part of an exclusively designed Topshop Capsule Collection".
